One of Britain’s longest established and popular Photography MA courses has produced another intriguing and provocative postgraduate exhibition which opens at the Waterloo Gallery, London on 6th October and at the Workstation Gallery in Sheffield from 10th November

The work of the eight participating graduates from De Montfort University, Leicester called Identity 08 explores issues of identity, dyslexia, religion, cage fighting, drug addiction and landscape.

In ‘Traces’ Lizzie Brown explores how our flesh is changed by what we wear and come in contact with in our daily lives.

In ‘Cage’ Iwan Baxter offers an alternative view of the controversial sport of cage-fighting, focussing on the pre-fight atmosphere.

Matt Wright’s ambiguous and psychological images reflect his journey towards Christian faith.

In ‘From Above’ Nigel Richards shows how photographs taken looking down reveal a community of shape, pattern and form between objects not apparent when photographed from a more normal viewpoint.

James Trew’s sensitive images relate to his brother’s drug addiction, and explore notions of façade and pretence by aiming to evoke feelings of unease through depicting apparent ‘normality’ in everyday objects.

Michael Krier’s ‘Cotswold Works’ documents the landscape and people of the Cotswolds, revealing a very different Cotswolds from that more usually seen in family snapshots and picture postcards.

In ‘A Sweet Voice’ Tracey Welch provides a personal insight into the life of a dyslexic person, which she hopes will encourage some understanding and acceptance of people within such an unobvious, but prevalent disability.
